| McCain is Closing the Gap |

"It's not that people think McCain will win - it's that they are realizing that McCain could win," says Quinnipiac University pollster Peter Brown, whose surveys show tight races in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. "This election is about Barack Obama - not John McCain - it's about whether Barack Obama passes muster. Every poll shows that people want a Democratic president, the problem is they're not sure they want Barack Obama." In an article by Chris Brown at ActualPolitics, McCain's game plan is to keep his head above water while Obama drowns in his own popularity. This appears to be happening, and Peter Brown (no known relation to Chris) agrees. This election is about Obama, and if he's able to lead. McCain only has to pick a decent running mate and not fumble. This election reminds me of the last super bowl. Remember how New England was supposed to win? New York didn't stand a chance? Be prepared for another upset as McCain slowly but surly creeps up from behind to take the lead. Moreover, Michigan (a real battleground state) may swing to McCain with the recent scandal involving the Mayor of Detroit, who is an outspoken Obama supporter. If you consider the racial tension in the Detroit area, McCain's chances become even more attainable. Long story short, McCain is the little candidate that could. He surprised everyone by coming from behind in the primaries and beating out the Romney machine; we have every reason in the world to believe he can outlast the ‘flash in the pan' Obama.
